Consequences of using 5.45 cartridges with buckshot for an automatic rifle barrel shown on video

Numerous chips and scratches are visible in the footage

The military began using converted standard 5.45 mm cartridges for the Kalashnikov assault rifle with buckshot in heat shrink tubing to combat unmanned aerial vehicles. A video of the consequences of firing such ammunition for the weapon's barrel has appeared online .

Footage from inside the barrel indicates that buckshot cartridges leave chips and scratches, which ultimately can lead to the weapon being disabled.

New buckshot cartridges of 7.62x39 mm caliber have been developed for the Russian military to destroy drones. Instead of a metal part, they have a 3D-printed hollow bullet filled with buckshot.
