Russian "Mir" is about to enter Thailand: the payment system may start operating in the kingdom in the near future

The project is technically ready for implementation

The project to introduce the "Mir" payment system in Thailand is almost ready for implementation and could be launched in the near future. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador to the Kingdom, Yevgeny Tomikhin.

Technically, the project has been worked out and, probably, can be launched in a short time, because, as far as I remember, there was even a test payment.

According to him, preparations for the launch of "Mir" cards were almost completed before the COVID-19 pandemic. Then the project was suspended due to a reduction in the flow of tourists.

Now the technical side of the issue has been fully worked out for implementation. Tomikhin expressed hope that in the near future "Mir" cards will be used in Thailand to pay for goods and services.

It is worth noting that the launch of "Mir" cards in Thailand has been discussed for several years. It was previously unofficially reported that the process was frozen due to concerns from local financial institutions related to Western sanctions. However, in light of Thailand's preparation for the status of a BRICS partner state, the issue of introducing the "Mir" payment system may be reviewed and accelerated.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Russian payment system "Mir" is planned to be launched in Thailand.
