Devices for treating esophageal burns and draining purulent cavities developed in St. Petersburg

New medical devices are already being used in surgery

A device for treating esophageal burns in children and a medical device for draining purulent cavities have been created at the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University (SPbGPMU). This was reported by the university's press service.

We have created a device that allows us to isolate the burn area to protect it from the effects of saliva and gastric juice. Also, thanks to this probe, we can introduce drugs directly into the affected area.

SPbGPMU has also created a device for draining purulent cavities. The development reduces the treatment time for purulent complications by 30-45%.

This device consists of a drain tube, an irrigation tube, and a fluid supply element. The control valve helps maintain optimal pressure.

The new medical devices are already being used in surgical practice. However, we are not talking about large-scale production yet, but about assembling small series of devices.

Earlier www1.ru reported that in Russia they learned to speed up thyroid surgery with the help of a surgical instrument.
