The Moscow Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into Aeroflot airline following complaints from pilots about problems with Russian air navigation software. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Aviatorshchina" with reference to sources in the company.
According to reports, the difficulties began after the previous SkyBag software produced by Aeromap was replaced with SmartSky from the North-Western Regional Center for Aeronautical Information (SZ RCAI) and F+ tech T1100 corporate tablets.
Pilots complain that the new SmartSky software on tablets is unstable, does not meet flight safety requirements and contains errors. These include incorrect navigation data, errors in frequencies, safe altitudes and the absence of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) charts. In addition, the tablets are prone to spontaneous reboots, which makes it difficult to access the necessary information during flights.
According to sources in the company, the prosecutor's office demanded that Aeroflot's management explain the reasons for switching to the new software, as well as respond to the pilots' complaints. The inspection is being carried out by the Moscow Prosecutor's Office for Supervision of the Execution of Laws on Air and Water Transport.
