The physical launch of 2 reactors of the "Admiral Nakhimov" heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser (Project 11442M) is scheduled for the third decade of December, according to a source in the Russian military-industrial complex (MIC).
According to him, it is first necessary to complete the operation to demagnetize the cruiser's hull without going to sea. There is no official confirmation of this information.
Earlier, during the "Fleet-2024" naval salon, a source claimed that the physical launch of the reactors was scheduled for the fall of 2024. Another interlocutor noted that the ship would be transferred to the Russian Navy in 2026.
The "Admiral Nakhimov" has been under repair since 1999, but the work itself began only in 2013. It is expected that after modernization, the cruiser will serve for at least 30 years.
