VTB has provided its clients with the opportunity to make purchases abroad using a QR code, which can be scanned in the bank's mobile application. The function has already been tested in one of the neighboring countries. In the first half of 2025, the new payment type will become available for use in other countries.
VTB has developed a payment solution that will allow the bank's clients to pay for purchases abroad using a QR code in "VTB Online". Now they do not need to withdraw cash when traveling abroad or apply for a card from foreign banks.
The bank reported that payment is made in rubles, followed by conversion into the national currency of the country where the purchase was made. No commission is charged for processing the payment. The limit for one transaction is from 10 rubles to 350 thousand rubles.
At the initial stage, the service will only be available to VTB clients.
But already in the first half of the year, we will be ready to provide this technology as part of partnerships with international banks and fintech companies in friendly countries.
The bank has not yet provided a list of countries where payment can be made using a QR code through the VTB application.
Earlier www1.ru reported that VTB became the first Russian bank to implement self-unlocking technology for the mobile application. Now, customers can easily restore access to their personal account by simply attaching a bank card with an NFC module to their smartphone.
