Russian Railways Launches First Compartment Car for Passengers in Wheelchairs

The presentation of the specialized car took place at the Kazan railway station of the capital

Federal Passenger Company (FPC), a subsidiary of Russian Railways, sent on its first trip a new specialized car for passengers with limited mobility, which will be part of the branded train No. 12 “Premium” on the Moscow — Anapa route. The presentation of the car took place at the Kazan railway station in Moscow, TASS reports.

This car is fully adapted for passengers traveling in wheelchairs, as well as for their accompanying persons. It is equipped with automated lifting devices that facilitate boarding and disembarking passengers with disabilities. The car has four specialized spacious compartments, and the width of the beds has been increased by 6 cm, which makes them more comfortable.

Also in the car there are specially designated places for wheelchairs and for attaching crutches. For the convenience of passengers with visual impairments, Braille signs are placed throughout the car.
