The US has studied the Russian T-90M "Breakthrough" tank and allegedly found shortcomings. This is stated in an article in the American magazine The National Interest.
Observers called the automatic loader placed on the rotating floor of the turret a disadvantage of the T-90. In their opinion, if a shell hits, this could provoke the separation of the turret from the main body of the tank.
Nevertheless, this type of automatic loading device provides the T-90 with a high rate of fire, they noted.
Despite the shortcomings of the Russian tank, the United States showed interest in it, which explains why the T-90 was spotted in a truck parking lot in Louisiana last year.
The T-90M has a new turret. It is easily recognizable in appearance due to the ammunition box located at the rear.
The vehicle also received a 125-mm gun, which provides for the use of new high-power ammunition, as well as guided missiles, which allow hitting helicopters and armored targets at a range of up to 5 km.
There are also two machine guns: a remotely controlled combat module with a 12.7-mm machine gun and a 7.62 mm machine gun paired with the gun and mounted on the turret.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian soldiers tested the Leopard-2A4. The German tank will still serve in battles.
