Chery has reduced its production plan for cars under the XCITE brand at the "Avtozavod St. Petersburg" from 25,000 to 7,000 units. This was reported by auto expert Sergei Tsyganov.
He noted that the company is gradually losing interest in assembling cars under the XCITE brand. This applies not only to the X-Cross 7, but also to the latest X-Cross 8. According to preliminary data, they want to sell about 700 cars in 2025, which is an unprofitable volume.
At the same time, Chery intends to assemble the Renault Sandero Stepway at the enterprise, but it will also be sold under the XCITE brand.
The welding shop is already being modernized at the factory for the "Logan-3" (more precisely, Sandero Stepway), which will also be sold under the Xcite brand. They promise to complete all the necessary modernization by September 2025. But the rush is unclear, Stepway-Xcite itself will definitely not be ready by September.
As a reminder, the Xcite X-Cross 7 crossover appeared on the market in 2024, but its release was delayed several times. A similar situation was observed with the Xcite X-Cross 8 model. Initially, it was planned that sales would begin on October 24, but then this date was postponed to October 28, and then left open.
