Russian military forces have BMP-3s with installed roller mine тралами at their disposal. They are able to solve the issue of the shortage of тралов and mine clearers on the front.
The authors of the Telegram channel «Военный осведомитель» reminded that if light armored vehicles independently participate in assault actions, they need engineering means to overcome mine obstacles of the enemy.
As practice has repeatedly shown, not always assault columns are provided with appropriate engineering equipment or even not always a tank with a тралом goes ahead. And in case of its loss, the remaining vehicles, not having the means to overcome mines, are trapped in a minefield and are forced to either disperse and blow up, or stand still and wait for drones with artillery.
Also in service is the BMR-3M «Вепрь», whose main task is reconnaissance, overcoming and demining minefields. The created passages during demining are approximately equal in width to the wheelbase or track distance of BMPs, APCs or tanks.
The machine is capable of making two tracks in anti-track minefields with a width of 800—870 mm each, but between the tracks remains unmined space with a width of 1620 mm.
