More than 2,000 schoolchildren in Russia have undergone career guidance testing using a device resembling the famous "Sorting Hat" from "Harry Potter." The creator of this technology, Alexey Khalezov, explained that the system works on the basis of a neurointerface, which uses electrodes that record brain activity. The electronic components of the hat also include sensors similar to those used in smart watches and fitness trackers.
During the testing, an electroencephalograph records the brain activity of the subject, and a team of neurophysiologists and psychologists analyzes the data obtained. Based on the analysis, the student is provided with a report with recommendations for choosing a profession, based on his individual biological characteristics.
The cost of the device is about 100 thousand rubles and includes both the equipment itself and the software for data processing. In the future, it is planned to mass-produce the device for use in educational institutions, career guidance centers, and among private specialists.
