On November 1, Algeria celebrated the 70th anniversary of the start of the war for independence with a large-scale military parade. The Algerian Armed Forces showed military equipment, including Russian aircraft and tanks, Eurasian Times writes.
Parade participants saw T-90 tanks and Su-30 fighters in service. MiG-25 interceptors also appeared at the parade, which, according to some media reports, were decommissioned in the summer of 2022.
MiG-25 is a supersonic interceptor and reconnaissance aircraft, considered one of the fastest military aircraft in the world. It was equipped with 4 air-to-air missiles and a powerful radar.
Algeria was the first customer of the MiG-25 from the USSR. Since 1979, the country has received at least 36 MiG-25 aircraft, including 18 MiG-25P interceptors, 10 MiG-25RB reconnaissance and strike aircraft, and 6 training aircraft. Currently, the Algerian Air Force has about 70 Su-30 fighters, 39 MiG-29s and 42 Su-24s.
