The Russian engine of the SSJ 100 aircraft will be mounted on a flying laboratory in the coming days. Testing will be completed next year. This was announced by the head of the Rostec State Corporation, Sergey Chemezov, speaking at the Federation Council.
We are talking about the PD-8 engine. After bench tests, it will be installed on a flying laboratory for tests. After they are carried out, certification tests on the aircraft will begin. Chemezov expressed hope that all tests will be completed next year.
The head of Rostec said that a new name for the SSJ 100 has not yet been invented. It is possible that the name "Yakovlev" will be present in the name of the aircraft in honor of the legendary Soviet designer Alexander Sergeevich Yakovlev.
Chemezov also recalled the plans of the state corporation. In 2025, the serial production of the MC-21 aircraft will start and the certification tests of the PD-8 for the SSJ 100 will be completed. The new aircraft is scheduled to be released in 2026.
