Russian engineers have developed a new contact spot welding machine for the PC "Salut" enterprise (part of UEC), which will replace 2 similar installations of the previous generation. It is used to apply welded honeycomb seals to aircraft engine parts. This was reported by the UEC press service.
Honeycomb seals are necessary to create the optimal distance between the rotating part of the engine and its housing. This reduces wear on parts and improves the engine's performance.
This equipment has no analogues in Russia, and foreign installations do not allow simultaneous fixing of honeycomb seals and their welding.
The "Salut" production complex is an engine-building enterprise that develops, manufactures, and maintains aircraft engines. The plant has established a full cycle of manufacturing units for aircraft – from pre-production to product assembly.
