Polar explorers on the ice-resistant self-propelled platform "Northern Pole", built by the "Admiralty Shipyards" according to the design of the "Vympel" design bureau, conducted the first deep-sea oceanographic sounding of the water column of the Arctic Ocean. This was reported by the press service of the USC.
Water samples were obtained from various depths down to 3,200 meters.
About LSP "Northern Pole"
The scientific expedition vessel was built under the program of socio-economic development of the Arctic. "Northern Pole" was included in the TOP-100 main achievements of modern Russia.
The vessel was laid down in the spring of 2019 and handed over to the customer in the summer of 2022. It is designed for year-round expeditions in the latitudes of the Arctic Ocean and is capable of passing through ice without the help of an icebreaker.
