XCITE X-Cross 8 Sales Launch in Russia Delayed — Vehicle Type Approval Certificate is Being Reissued

The new model, related to the Chinese Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, will appear in dealerships after a separate order

The postponement of the XCITE X-Cross 8 sales launch was reported by the specialized automotive Telegram channel "Russian Automobile etc," citing sources in dealerships. According to their information, it was initially scheduled for October 24, then postponed to October 28, and then dealers received letters with "an open date, i.e., until a separate order".

The reason for these fluctuations is that the Chinese partner made some changes to the car at the final stage without informing AvtoVAZ. And the Vehicle Type Approval Certificate had to be reissued. This process is underway right now. It's a matter of a few days, but no one can say exactly how many will be needed. Worse, the "Avtozavod St. Petersburg" is once again forced to revise its production plan for 2025. The XCITE X-Cross has resulted in a lot of additional costs, and, as sources at the plant explained to us, the once profitable project is now almost unprofitable. And it is still unclear how many car kits Chery will actually supply.

It is known that the XCITE X-Cross 8, which is essentially a rebranded Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, was supposed to be offered in four trim levels, two of which are all-wheel drive. Also, according to insiders, the XCITE X-Cross 8 will differ from the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro in the design of the front end.
