Will Reduce Harmful Emissions to the Environment: Samples of Environmentally Friendly Aviation Fuel Created in Tomsk

The fuel includes industrial waste and vegetable oils

The Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) has developed the first samples of light and stable environmentally friendly aviation fuel. This was reported by the press service of the university.

The new development includes composite raw materials — vegetable oils (tall, camelina, rapeseed, waste cooking oils) and industrial waste from oil refineries.

A feature of our product is the relatively low content of aromatic components, which contribute to soot formation during combustion. This will reduce the level of harmful emissions into the environment.

Alternative fuel is superior to analogues. It not only causes less harm to the environment, but also has a number of other advantages.

Our biofuel has better thermal-oxidative stability, which minimizes fuel oxidation and changes in its characteristics during flight, when it is used as a heat carrier. Biofuel is also characterized by better distillation performance, which affects the reduction in the duration of the fuel mixture preparation process

The developers have already begun research to identify the most successful fuel samples. In the future, it will be tested on small-sized aircraft engines.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a new way to recycle spent nuclear fuel was invented in Russia.
