The Unified Air Defense and Missile Defense System of Russia and Belarus uses automated control systems (ACS) 73N6 Baikal-1 (developed by STC MNIIIPA of GSCB Almaz-Antey). These systems help distribute targets between anti-aircraft missile brigades to repel combined missile strikes by the enemy. This is according to military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
According to him, 73N6 Baikal-1 receives tactical air situation data from:
- 91N6 radar detectors
- Gamma-DE radar stations
- Podlet-K1 low-altitude detectors
- A-50U AWACS aircraft
The hardware and software base helps the ACS track 80 targets, selecting the most priority ones. All targets are distributed among 12 different types of anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) located in different areas. These include the S-300PM2, S-400, S-350A Vityaz SAMs, as well as 9A317MA Buk-M3A firing units.
Damantsev emphasized that 73N6 Baikal-1 will help repel the most complex combined enemy strikes using several hundred AGM-158B, SCALP-EG, Taurus, and ATACMS missiles.
If a link of radar information sources from A-50U AWACS aircraft is involved, Baikal-1 provides target designation to active radar homing heads of 9M317MA, 9M96DM, 40N6, and 9M82MD SAMs for over-the-horizon targets at a distance of more than 100 km.
The expert added that the maximum speed of targets tracked by Baikal-1 can reach 9216 km/h, and the upper limit of processed target tracks is up to 102 km. The Polyana-D4M1 ACS has similar technical characteristics.
