The "Atom" electric car is planned to become self-driving by 2027

For now, it will be equipped with a level two driver assistance system

The "Atom" electric car may become self-driving in 2027, but at the start of production in 2025, the car will be equipped with a level two driver assistance system (ADAC 2+). This was announced by Igor Povarazdnyuk, CEO of Kama.

With ADAC 2+, the electric car can independently stay in its lane, brake urgently in case of danger, park autonomously, and maintain a set speed using cruise control. In total, the driver assistant will have 18 functions. According to Povarazdnyuk, to introduce a self-driving system into a car, you need to wait for the right moment.

It is important that this is not a technological end in itself, but that a person can use this functionality here and now.

What about prices and production volumes?

Production of electric vehicles at the "Moskvich" plant will start at the end of 2025. Localization is promised at the level of 60-70%.

At the beginning of 2026, Povarazdnyuk said, cars will be received by those people who made a preliminary order. Also, several thousand cars will be shipped to taxi fleets and car sharing services. In total, it is planned to produce tens of thousands of cars per year.

The exact price of the electric car is unknown. Povarazdnyuk emphasizes that, depending on the configuration, you will need to pay from 2.9 million rubles to 4 million rubles for the car.

The "Atoms" will not have a dealer network; cars will become available for sale online. For a test drive, you can take car-sharing electric cars or those cars that are taken for long-term rent.
