Russian military personnel at the forefront are using a rare 120-mm breech-loading rifled artillery gun 2B16 "Nona-K". It can be used both as a howitzer and as a mortar.
The weapon is quite accurate due to the rifled barrel. Approximately an hour and a half, the "Nona-K" can work without interruption, then it needs to be given 30 minutes to rest, and then continue. On average, in 2-3 days we can fire up to 180 shells.
Technical characteristics of 2B16 "Nona-K"
The towed gun was produced in 1986-87 in a total quantity of about 200 pieces, which makes it a rare specimen. "Nona-K" is distinguished by its small size and weight. In the combat position, the length of the gun does not exceed 4.6 m. The height of the gun ready for battle is 1350 mm. During firing, the wheels of the gun are hung out, and the "Nona-K" itself rests on a special pallet.
The maximum effective range is up to 12.8 km when using rocket-assisted projectiles and 12 km when using high-explosive fragmentation projectiles.
The weight of the product is 1200 kg. All this simplifies the transportation of the gun and its rolling across the battlefield. At various times, the standard tractors for "Nona-K" were Ural-4320 and GAZ-66 trucks, but light UAZ-469/3151s are also capable of coping with this task. Also, the gun is rolled over a short distance by its own crew of five people.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia produced a multi-purpose artillery platform "Kozero-1". Its compact dimensions allow the installation of guns indoors.
