The Russian Ministry of Defense has received a new batch of Yak-130 combat training aircraft from the Rostec State Corporation. These aircraft for basic and advanced pilot training have been produced for many years by the Irkutsk Aviation Plant as part of the UAC (part of Rostec).
The maneuverable Yak-130 trains pilots of fourth and fifth generation combat aircraft, while operating in near-combat conditions. During training, it can simulate the conditional use of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons, as well as use live weapons.
Inside the Yak-130 is a modern complex of avionics with liquid crystal digital displays and a collimator indicator on the windshield in the front cockpit. There is not a single analog device there.
A comprehensive digital fly-by-wire control system from KRET (part of Rostec), which allows you to perform aerobatics and train pilots to control fighters of various classes.
Provision is also made for saving the lives of the trainee pilot and instructor. If there is an emergency on board, and the pilot and his instructor cannot cope with the control for some reason, the Yak-130 can be landed by radio signal from the ground. The pilot ejection system has also been developed.
If necessary, the Yak-130 is able to quickly transform from a training aircraft into a combat aircraft and attack the enemy, performing the tasks of a light attack aircraft.
It is capable of:
- destroying individual ground objects and low-speed air targets. If it is necessary to hit ground targets, the Yak-130 will do it within a radius of 680 km;
- lifting 3000 kg of combat load into the air. In particular, these are R-73 air-to-air missiles with infrared homing heads, high-precision aviation bombs KAB-500Kr, aerial bombs with a caliber of 50 to 500 kg, unguided aerial rockets S-8, S-13, S-25, a suspended container with a GSH-23L cannon;
- gaining altitude quickly: this aircraft is a world record holder in its category for rate of climb to various altitudes. For example, it will climb to a height of 9 km with a payload of 2000 kg in 4 minutes 43 seconds.
It is known that the UAC is currently working on a new training "yak". Tests of the Yak-152 were completed in December 2023. Now, specialists are working on localizing its engine and adapting the VK-650 helicopter engine for this aircraft.
