Endurance, powerful protection, speed up to 100 km/h - what is known about the Russian armored vehicles "Linza" and "Phoenix"

At the Victory Parade on May 9 on Red Square this year, not only famous examples of Russian military equipment were spotted, such as theS-400 Triumph SAM system, or strategic missile systems"Yars". The parade was also attended by new participants: armored vehicles based on the "Typhoon" - the "Phoenix" airborne vehicle and the "Linza" ambulance.

"Phoenix", also known as the K-53949 armored vehicle, is the first fully import-substituted armored vehicle of the "Typhoon" family. For the first time, it wasshown in an exclusively domestic version at "Army-2023". "Rosoboronexport"announced its readiness not only to supply this equipment to foreign customers, but also to help with the localization of the production of "Phoenixes".

During the modernization, the armored "Phoenix", designed for the transportation of personnel and cargo, received:

• a serial simple chassis with a 4x4 wheel arrangement;
•  an empty weight of almost 14 tons;
  
• speed up to 100 km/h;
•  a range of 800-850 km;
• 10 seats: for two crew members and eight members of the assault group;
• protection of the crew and landing party from armor-piercing bullets and artillery shell fragments.

The ZSA-T "Linza" with bulletproof and mine protectionis engaged in the search, collection and evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield and from the centers of man-made disasters. If necessary, the wounded are provided with emergency first aid in the car during transportation.

Sometimes the ambulance also travels without the wounded, transporting medical equipment to deploy a medical center for the battalion. Under the hood is a KAMAZ-610.10-350 engine with 350 hp, which makes it possible to accelerate to 105 km/h if necessary.

In 2023, the "Linza" wasmodernized. It is known that the new version, the ZSA-UK "Linza", received:

• new chassis from KamAZ;
•  protection against detonation near grenades and mines in the equivalent of 10 kg of explosives;
  
• protection against shelling from large-caliber machine guns and rifles from 200 meters of 14.5 x 114 mm caliber
  

At the same time, the cost of one car after modernization became 1.4 times lower.
