The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, stated that the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg has long been transferred to Aurus. It is planned to launch the production of premium cars there before the end of 2024.

As a reminder, Manturov first announced plans to start Aurus production in Shushary in November last year. According to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the cars will be produced jointly with a foreign partner. It is possible that it could be FAW, which produces luxury cars under the Hongqi brand.
Currently, Aurus cars: the Senat limousine and the Komendant SUV are assembled at a factory in Yelabuga. In 2023, 115 cars were sold, and this year — the demand for them has increased. At NAMI in mid-April, they stated that officials began ordering 10-20 cars, while previously government agencies bought one or two premium cars.
