В России создадут три новые модели магистральных локомотивов

Transmashholding has started developing an electric locomotive and two diesel locomotives

Transmashholding (TMH) has started creating mainline locomotives for the Eastern Operating Domain of Russian Railways. Developers will create the 2ES9 electric locomotive, and the 2TE30 and 3TE30 diesel locomotives, according to Mikhail Rozhkov, Deputy General Director for Technical Development at TMH.

The holding noted that two locomotive models will begin testing in 2025.

The locomotives are designed to transport freight trains with a weight of 7100 tons with an allowable speed of 120 km/h. The machines with axle-by-axle traction control will be equipped with three-axle bogies. A feature of the 2TE30 and 3TE30 diesel locomotives is that its power plant will be able to operate on both diesel fuel and in a gas-diesel cycle.

Earlier it was reported that Russian Railways are waiting for the completion of work on a prototype domestic shunting locomotive powered by hydrogen.
