Distinguishes accent and complex special terms — an "IT translator" tablet has been created in Russia

The portable device "knows" more than 50 thousand highly specialized terms: from economics to nuclear energy

The electric power division of Rosatom, Rosenergoatom, has developed a portable "IT translator" tablet that runs on the Russian OS Astra Linux. With the help of AI, it helps to build communication in Russian and English, using more than 50 thousand terms, including highly specialized economic, technical and production terms.

The novelty was presented at Atomexpo 2024 in Sochi. The developers note that the AI is trained on more than 900 hours of various dialogues and data. This allows it to quickly and correctly recognize and translate speech, even if the negotiators have a strong accent.

In addition, the "IT translator" has a large vocabulary, which allows it to discuss such complex issues as, for example, training personnel at closed facilities such as nuclear power plants.

So far, the "IT translator" only "knows" Russian and English. But work is already underway to create the same Russian-Turkish translator. It is based on the terms used in the construction project of Akkuyu NPP in Turkey.
