Россия построит серию больших десантных кораблей по обновленному проекту 11711 - СМИ

Officially, only two such ships with contactless landing of 300 marines and equipment are known so far

Russia will continue to develop the modernized Project 11711 and build a whole series of large landing ships. At least two such LSTs will be laid down before the end of 2025 at the Yantar shipyard. This was reported by TASS news agency, citing its sources in the military-industrial complex, and noting that the publication has not yet received official confirmation of this.

Project 11711 in its original version includes two ships. These are the "Ivan Gren" and "Petr Morgunov", which have been serving in the Northern Fleet since 2018 and 2020. Each of them can simultaneously transport up to three hundred marines, 30 cargo or special vehicles, 36 armored personnel carriers or 13 tanks. At the same time, personnel and equipment are landed contactlessly thanks to special ship pontoons to the shore, which work even with waves of 4 points. Also, ships of Project 11711 can be used to transport cargo up to 1500 tons.

Later, the project was modernized, and the LST "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin" began to be built at the Yantar shipyards according to the corrected project. Officially, the continuation of the modernized project and its final composition were not announced. But in August of this year, the specialized publication "GlavPaluba", referring to Alexey Rakhmanov, head of the USC, wrote that several new ships are still worth waiting for. Moreover, they will be built not only in Kaliningrad, but also at shipyards throughout the country. The USC has not denied this.
