"Post of Russia" has warned about changes to the rules for sending registered letters, parcels, and packages: from September 1, it will be impossible to do this without a passport.
From September 1, 2023, the conditions for accepting registered items will change. The sender must provide a document proving their identity to the postal worker.
An alternative to a passport is a service called "Simple Electronic Signature." You can connect it in one of three ways:
- Remotely using a verified account on the State Services website;
- Fill out the form online, come and sign it at the "Post of Russia" branch, taking your passport with you;
- Come to the "Post of Russia" branch with your passport and fill out a paper form.
The new rule is stipulated in the order of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation dated April 17, 2023. Thus, according to the order, registered postal items will be accepted from September 1, provided that senders or their representatives are identified.
