Nigeria Interested in Russian Su-75 Checkmate Aircraft, and Russia to Build Nuclear Power Plant in Uganda

New agreements are being discussed and contracts are being signed at the Russia-Africa summit

African countries are interested in cooperating with Russia not only on the food program — many are counting on fruitful interaction in the military or technological sphere. This was demonstrated by the Russia-Africa summit.

For example, Nigeria is interested in purchasing Russian-made fighters, including the latest Checkmate. This was announced by Dmitry Shugaev, Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia.

The foreign customer highly appreciates the tactical and technical characteristics of domestic machines. They also have Checkmate in their sights.

Checkmate is the first and only Russian single-engine fifth-generation aircraft. It is capable of accelerating to Mach 2 and carrying 7,400 kg of payload.

Uganda has agreed with Russia to build a nuclear power plant. This was announced by the country's president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, at a meeting with Vladimir Putin.

We have also agreed with Russian companies to build a nuclear power plant to generate electricity. This project is already underway, and we are happy about it.

The President of Uganda added that his country would also like to cooperate with Russia in the production of electric batteries.
