The Technical Director of the Belarusian enterprise "BelAZ" Sergey Lesin announced that the company will refuse foreign engines in favor of Russian ones - all popular models of dump trucks will be switched to domestic engines. However, such a transition will take time.
It's not a quick process. We have a number of projects for which we have received experimental samples, they are currently undergoing operational tests. For some products, we already have approval for serial production. Essentially, when this work is completed, we will completely cover the need for diesel engines for the most mass products. It is quite realistic to achieve full import substitution in this part by 2025, if no difficulties arise.
Some of the "BelAZs" are already equipped with engines from the Yaroslavl Motor Factory (a subsidiary of GAZ), a new truck with a load capacity of 220 tons is equipped with engines from the Kolomna Factory, also the Belarusian enterprise is negotiating with the Ural Diesel Engine Factory and Tutaev Motor Factory (part of KamAZ).
