The electric grid holding company "Rosseti" has announced the commissioning of innovative optical measuring transformers at Siberian substations.
One of them will be installed at the 220 kV "Nadym" substation in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, a little earlier two innovative transformers were installed in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region - Ugra at the 500 kV "Somkinskaya" and "Trachukovskaya" substations.
Optical transformers enhance the potential reliability of power facilities, but they also have many other advantages. For example, unlike electromagnetic devices, optical ones output data in digital form. They are also explosion- and fire-safe, and weigh 5-10 times less than traditional counterparts.
