A major fire occurred on January 28 on the territory of the former Volkswagen automobile plant in Kaluga, where cars of the Russian brand Tenet are currently being assembled based on Chery models. This was reported by the Telegram channel Mash.
According to preliminary data, the fire started in the body shop — plastic used in the production process caught fire there.
Soon the fire spread to the foam plastic used in the internal cladding of the building, which led to a rapid increase in the fire area.
To date, the fire has covered about 4,000 m². Emergency services are working on the spot, fire crews continue to extinguish the fire and wet the structures. Preliminary reports indicate that three people were injured, and the number may increase.
