Академик РАН Зелёный: Россия метит в первопроходцы Северного полюса Луны

Scientists propose sending one spacecraft to the Lunar South Pole, where research has already been conducted, and another to the unexplored North Pole.

Roscosmos is preparing for a large-scale lunar mission — in the coming years, it is planned to launch six spacecraft to explore the Earth's satellite. The Lunar North Pole attracts special attention of scientists, where no human has ever set foot and no Earth apparatus has landed.

Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Lev Zeleny, scientific director of the Institute for Space Research, confirmed the ambitious plans of the Russian space program. According to him, Russian spacecraft could become pioneers in the Lunar North Pole region. He made this statement while commenting on the speech of the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Bakanov at a meeting with representatives of the space agencies of the BRICS countries.

The program includes the launch of spacecraft for remote sensing "Luna-26" and "Luna-29", as well as four landing modules — "Luna-27" No. 1 and No. 2, "Luna-28" and "Luna-30". These devices will conduct contact studies of the satellite's surface.

Scientists propose sending one spacecraft to the Lunar South Pole, where foreign expeditions have already worked, and the second to the unexplored North Pole. In the southwestern part on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin landed on the surface of the satellite as part of the Apollo 11 mission, therefore, the Russian side will not be a pioneer in this part of the Moon, but it will be able to land on the North Pole for the first time.

Earlier www1.ru wrote that the Russian-Chinese project of the International Lunar Station is developing in parallel. 13 states have already joined it. Russia will contribute a unique development to the project — a nuclear power plant. In the future, it is planned to build a full-fledged nuclear power plant on the Moon.

Thus, Russia claims leadership in the exploration of lunar space, especially in its unexplored northern regions.
