The latest Russian T-90MS "Breakthrough" tank surpasses the German Leopard 2A6 in a number of important characteristics. A comparison of the two combat vehicles has appeared online.
The estimated cost of the T-90MS is $4.3 million, compared to $6.8 million for the Leopard. The Russian combat vehicle is armed with a more powerful 125-mm 2A82 smoothbore gun, while the German tank is equipped with a 120-mm Rh 120 smoothbore gun.
The Leopard took the lead in maximum forward speed — 72 km/h versus 70 km/h. However, the Russian tank wins due to its lower weight — 48 tons versus 55.2 tons. The T-90MS crew consists of 3 people, while the German vehicle has 4 people.
In conditions where combat vehicles are trying to be made less noticeable to reconnaissance drones, the T-90MS also wins thanks to its more compact dimensions: 9.5 m — length, 3.8 m — width, 2.2 m — height. The Leopard's figures are 11.3 m, 3.74 m and 2.6 m, respectively.
The T-90MS "Breakthrough" tank is the most advanced vehicle in the T-90 family and the most adapted to operations in modern combat conditions, including through the implementation of measures to improve survivability, a modern, all-weather, highly automated control system, and all-round protection.
