The Indian government plans to purchase 114 fourth-generation fighter jets for its Air Force. Russian manufacturers may participate in the tender for the supply of the "Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft".
A key condition for participation in the procurement is the establishment of aircraft production in the country under the "Make in India" program. This will reduce dependence on component supplies from abroad.
The Indian Air Force will soon decommission Jaguar, Mirage-2000, MiG-29, and MiG-21 fighters. Considering this fact, the authorities promise to resolve the issue of their replacement in the near future.
Experts say that New Delhi will consider the American F-21, F/A-18E/F, F-15 EX, the French Dassault Rafale, the European Eurofighter Typhoon, and the Russian MiG-35, Su-35, and Su-57 for procurement.
