The Su-35S fighter received an unusual braking system – instead of traditional airbrakes, the fighter can use rudders that deflect in opposite directions. Andrey Fyodorov, a former Su-24 technician, explained to "Pervy Tekhnichesky" why the resource of hinges and rudder attachment points does not suffer.

According to him, the design initially provides a significant margin of safety.

Perhaps the engine hours for inspection and maintenance were also reduced. On the Su-24, the airbrakes are also the front flaps of the landing gear bays. From my visual memory, the components there are incredibly robust. If I'm not mistaken, lubrication and inspection are done once a month.

Earlier, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" in a large article explained how the 34.5-ton Su-35S, reaching speeds of up to 2500 km/h, reduces speed during maneuvering and landing.

According to open sources, the Russian Aerospace Forces have more than 155 Su-35S fighters. The main deliveries occurred during the period from 2012, when serial production began at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Plant.
