Russia plans to create a new line of gas turbines for energy based on aircraft engines. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mikhail Ivanov.
According to him, a total of 19 types of gas turbine engines ranging from 2 to 170 MW are being built in the country.
In 2025, domestic companies produced a total of 7 high-power gas turbines. This year, we also aim to produce seven machines. Our first Russian F-class turbine with a capacity of 65 MW is in the final stage of production.
It should be noted that in the case of converting aircraft engines, the turbines are no longer powered by aviation kerosene, but by methane.
For this purpose, gas burners are installed instead of nozzles for liquid kerosene. The combustion chamber is also redesigned, as gas and kerosene burn at different speeds and temperatures.
In addition, the most powerful gas turbine in Russia's history, the GTE-300 with a capacity of 300 MW, has reached the preliminary design stage.
