Specialists of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA), together with the Russian Aviation Register and GosNII GA, have begun a key stage in the certification of the new domestic turboprop engine VK-800. The unit will be tested for reliability on a special stand for 150 hours of continuous operation at maximum power.

The VK-800 has a power output of 806 to 877 hp and is built according to a classic scheme with a centrifugal compressor. The power plant is being developed in three modifications for different types of aircraft — LMS-901 "Baikal", UTS-800 and LMS-192 "Osvey".

The certification of the VK-800 engine was planned to be completed in December 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade stated.

In mid-July 2025, the first flight of a flying laboratory based on the Yak-40 aircraft with a VK-800 engine took place, which stayed in the air for 934 seconds.
