The first flight of the light multipurpose aircraft LMS-901 "Baikal" with the Russian VK-800 power plant was successful. This was announced by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov.
The tests took place on December 24, in parallel with tests of the VK-800 engine and the AV-901 propeller.
The machine proved to be stable and controllable in the established range of centerings, speeds and altitudes.
Certification of the VK-800 power plant and AV-901 propeller is scheduled for the beginning of 2026. Thanks to the production of domestic components, it will be possible to implement projects to create new light aircraft, Alikhanov emphasized.
The LMS-901 "Baikal" will replace the Soviet An-2. Developers expect that the type certificate for the aircraft will be obtained this year.
