The high-precision autonomous navigation and communication system "Geokosmos", developed by Zala company, helped a drone make a flight between Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. This was announced by Sakhalin Oblast Governor Valery Limarenko at the "Wings of Sakhalin" forum for unmanned aerial vehicles of all environments, which started on July 3 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Our drone made an inter-island flight of about 430 km.
Valery Limarenko, Governor of Sakhalin Oblast

Limarenko emphasized that thanks to "Geokosmos", unmanned aerial vehicles are independent of GPS.

The Governor of Sakhalin Oblast said that Zala company and the unified Far Eastern airline "Aurora" have formed an alliance to deploy the infrastructure of the navigation and communication system. "Geokosmos" can be used not only for unmanned but also for manned aviation, he explained.

The new consortium "Aurora – Zala" is already working for the benefit of the residents of the Far East. Drones monitor oil and gas pipelines, and work is being carried out in Kamchatka and Sakhalin Oblast. The project will be scaled to Amur Oblast.

"Geokosmos" was presented in August 2025. The system operates independently of satellite and mobile networks. The uniqueness of the development is that it eliminates dependence on external sources of communication and positioning.
