Tests of the Drone ID service, which allows real-time identification of civilian drones via smartphone even in the complete absence of cellular communication, have been successfully completed in Russia. As reported by TASS in the press service of JSC "GLONASS", the technology was demonstrated at the "Wings of Sakhalin" forum.

Drones were tracked at a distance of several hundred meters. The onboard tracker operates in a combined mode: when the network is lost, it automatically switches to broadcasting via Wi-Fi. The mobile application displays basic information about the legality of the flight, while supervisory authorities see extended data – the mission, owner, and characteristics of the aircraft. The system is already integrated with the Rosaviatsia digital platform.

The service is positioned as a tool to mitigate flight restrictions currently in force in the regions. According to Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin, a unified identification system based on "ERA-GLONASS" creates a managed environment where each device reliably confirms its legality.

The forum also tested the "red button" – a cryptographically protected mechanism for forced drone shutdown in emergency situations. The development is designed not only for aerial, but also for ground and water drones.
