The National Payment Card System (NSPK) is developing payment infrastructure tools that work without mobile internet. If a retail outlet is connected to wired internet, purchases can be paid for using Mir Pay. This was stated by Pavel Potanin, Deputy General Director of NSPK.
The new tools ensure the availability of payments for users and businesses in various conditions, Potanin emphasized. In the future, Russians will be able to use the "Volna" service, he added.
This is a contactless payment technology for iPhone via the Faster Payments System (SBP) and the Mir payment system based on Bluetooth. Its main advantage is the ability to make payments while being far from the terminal.
SBP is on the "white list" of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development. If the client has access to the bank's mobile application, and the seller is connected to wired internet, the payment will go through.
NSPK plans to expand SBP usage scenarios, including by introducing a personal QR code. In addition, terminals used in transport have already been switched to a deferred transaction mode. This means that funds are debited from the card when the terminal connects to the network.
