Irkutsk Aviation Plant Removed the Main Brake on MC-21-310 Assembly

Component issuance reduced from 84 hours to 30 minutes

The Irkutsk Aviation Plant has completed a large-scale restructuring of logistics within the enterprise. This refers to the system for issuing purchased components (PKI), without which the final production of the MC-21-310 aircraft is impossible.

After optimizing the process, the total time from receiving an order to transferring components to the assembly station was reduced from 84 hours to 30 minutes.

At the same time, the number of documents was reduced from 132 to 60, and the number of participants in the process from 13 to 6.

It is also important that we now have a team of skilled specialists who can identify problems and use lean tools. The project results are another important step towards optimizing production cycles and achieving the planned aircraft production rates.
Andrey Soynov, General Director of IAZ

The head of Rosaviatsiya, Dmitry Yadrov, stated that the MC-21 has completed about 30% of its flight test program. When they will be completed is unknown, but serial production is planned to begin in 2027.

Meanwhile, OAK test pilots continue to push the MC-21-310 with system failures and maximum load with shimmy.
