Russia plans to develop a cargo modification of the Il-114-300 aircraft, and is also considering creating a medical version for transporting patients. Work on new variants is being carried out as part of platform development, said Mikhail Alekseev, the chief designer of the aircraft.
According to Mikhail Alekseev, the basic passenger platform Il-114-300 is initially designed as a multi-purpose aircraft. He noted that the aircraft will be developed by analogy with its predecessor, implying not only passenger but also cargo use.
The designer clarified that the appearance of the cargo version is expected in approximately three years. The possibility of creating a medical modification, intended for transporting patients and performing state aviation tasks, is also being discussed separately.
As part of the current program, the aircraft is being developed with the participation of enterprises of the United Aircraft Corporation under the management of the "Il" company, part of Rostec.
