Russian designers will need at least 7-10 years to create a wide-body long-haul aircraft. The work is currently at the research stage, defining the future aircraft's appearance. This was stated by Vadim Badeha, head of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec).

Such an aircraft is needed in the Russian fleet. Today, we are finalizing the technical requirements for it and expect that relevant work will be organized.
When creating an aircraft, it is necessary to focus on advanced technologies. If current developments are used, by the time the airliner is ready, more advanced machines will appear on the market, Badeha explained.
The key element of a long-haul aircraft is the PD-35 ultra-high thrust turbofan engine. When the power plant is ready, it will be possible to talk about the feasibility of implementing the project, he concluded.
The PD-35 has been designed since 2016 as an engine for heavy aircraft. Currently, the unit is at the stage of testing the basic gas generator and evaluating critical technologies.
