First production SJ-100 and MC-21 are ready, awaiting certification - OAK

Around two dozen aircraft of both models are in the workshops

OAK head Vadim Badeha, in an interview with TASS on the eve of the SPIEF-2026, announced that the first production SJ-100 and MC-21 aircraft have already been produced and are in the final assembly workshops. In total, there are about two dozen aircraft of both models. However, they will only be able to take to the air after the completion of certification procedures.

For the SJ-100, about 80% of certification flights have been completed — OAK expects to close the remaining 20% by the end of summer. With PD-8 engines, the import-substituted “Superjet,” according to First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, will begin to be delivered to airlines in late 2026 or the first quarter of 2027.

For the MC-21, the situation is more protracted: only 30% of the certification program has been completed, and Rostec head Sergey Chemezov previously called the first quarter of 2027 a realistic completion date, with subsequent launch of series production.

The first shipments will begin when we calculate the price and, accordingly, ensure OAK's compensation for the difference (between the cost and the commercial price of the first aircraft). At the same time, after 2030, we will gradually move away from this measure: scaling up production and working to reduce costs will allow us to reach a figure of about 7.4 billion rubles.
Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister

Thus, the key bottleneck of the program is not production, but bureaucracy and testing. Almost a regiment of non-flying aircraft has already accumulated in the workshops, each costing hundreds of millions of rubles. The faster the certification is completed, the faster these aircraft will begin to cover the shortage of aircraft in Russian airlines.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that OAK is ready to build 500 MC-21, SJ-100, and Tu-214 aircraft in 10 years.
