Tu-214 not yet "brought to perfection": production deadlines could have "shifted to the right"

Sergey Chemezov did not mention the airliner in the plans for serial production

Work on the import-substituted Tu-214 with a three-person crew continues. Changes have been made to the aircraft's certificate, allowing the use of new Russian systems instead of foreign ones, reported Rostec head Sergey Chemezov at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

He clarified that this refers to avionics and collision avoidance systems. Previously, the aircraft used foreign solutions, but now it is equipped with domestic complexes.

It just takes time to bring it to perfection if you start from scratch.
Sergey Chemezov, Head of Rostec

It should be noted that Chemezov generally spoke about the pace of production in the aviation industry and the progress of testing the Il-114-300, MC-21, and Superjet. According to him, the Il-114-300 is already completing certification flights, and the first aircraft may be delivered to customers this year. Serial production of the MC-21 and Superjet is planned to begin in 2027.

The Tu-214 was not on this list. The publication "Business Online" stated that there is no encouraging information yet on increasing production rates.

The Kazan Aircraft Plant was tasked with delivering three airliners in 2026. However, according to sources, it is more realistic to assume that the enterprise will report on one Tu-214.
