Work on the new regional aircraft LMS-901 "Baikal" is currently at a standstill. This was stated by aviation expert Alexey Zakharov.
According to him, the situation has not improved, the light aircraft is "constantly being refined." He cited the frequency tests on the third prototype as indirect evidence of this.
This means that the design has significantly changed compared to the first and second flight models. And, according to unofficial information from TsAGI, it still needs further refinement.
Retired Rear Admiral Vladimir Dudko explained that the "Baikal" will under no circumstances replace the Soviet An-2 biplanes due to design features and increased requirements for the runway.
Earlier, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" conducted a direct comparison of the characteristics of the An-2 and "Baikal". The Soviet biplane won with a score of 2:1.
