The tender for the construction of the "Karat" solid-state microwave electronics factory has been successfully completed. The company "AkonsTrans" will be responsible for the design and construction of the building.
However, the contractor was determined only on the third attempt, because market participants were not offered attractive terms of participation, explained Grigory Korovin, head of the sector for economic problems of industrial markets at the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to him, this situation became an indicator of a problem — a discrepancy between strategic objectives and the current economic interests of market participants.
Formally, the project has been launched, political support has been declared, and a contractor has been determined. But three attempts to hold a tender are a direct signal that the initiator did not offer the market an attractive participation model. And the point is not in the technological complexity, which industry participants rightly talk about, but in the architecture of the project itself.
The head of the Sverdlovsk region, Denis Pasler, noted that work on the project will be completed in 2027. The initial contract cost was 2.4 billion rubles; the final amount in the estimate is unknown.
The Telegram channel "Russkoye Oruzhiye" stated that "Karat" products can be used in transceiver modules of radar stations for aviation and air defense.
This refers to the 96L6-TsP from the S-350A "Vityaz" air defense system or the MRLS "Yenisei" from the S-500 "Prometey" and S-400 "Triumf" air defense systems, as well as the N036 "Belka" airborne radars of Su-57 fighters.
