Kazan Aviation Plant (KAZ, part of PJSC "Tupolev") has sharply accelerated the process of docking the wing with the fuselage of the Tu-214 aircraft. The achievement was announced by the first deputy managing director of the enterprise, Zufar Mirgalimov.
We have already achieved a significant increase in assembly speed. For example, previously the docking of the wing with the fuselage took two months. Now the work is organized in such a way that the docking takes 14 days, with a subsequent target cycle of 12 days.
According to him, the plans for the production of Tu-214 remain unchanged — 20 units per year. Mirgalimov added that the plant has everything necessary to make the stated plans a reality.
To speed up production, KAZ has built a mechanical processing center. Also, the re-equipment of workshops is in full swing, and the construction of three logistics centers for storing materials is being completed. Prior to this, the plant announced a massive recruitment of workers.
Roman Gusarov, editor-in-chief of the Avia.ru portal, recalled that KAZ has not built a single new Tu-214 in the last three years. Therefore, even if airlines are ready to order 100 aircraft, the industry is simply not ready to produce them.
For three decades, the average production rate of the Tu-204 was three aircraft per year. Investments and the construction of new workshops have not yet yielded results.
However, Yuri Zakharchenko, Executive Director of RCC-Nauka, warned that the revived Tu-214 may not regain its former popularity among airlines accustomed to flying Western Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
