Honored Pilot Explains Why Supersonic Aircraft Will Not Become Mass-Produced

Vladimir Popov called such liners too expensive for large aviation

Supersonic passenger aircraft being developed in Russia will not find mass application due to their high cost. This opinion was voiced by Vladimir Popov, Honored Military Pilot of Russia.

However, Popov believes that such aircraft are quite suitable for business class.

When a businessman needs to fly, for example, from Komsomolsk-on-Amur to Moscow for a meeting. It's one thing to fly for eight hours, another thing to fly for three or four.

Andrey Dutov, General Director of the National Research Center "Zhukovsky Institute", noted that the future Russian supersonic aircraft will fly without a retractable nose cone, as was the case with the Tu-144.

Kirill Sypalo, General Director of TsAGI, suggested that the new Strizh supersonic aircraft could be implemented by 2028.
